Two Coast Guard officers were among seven persons, who were held on Saturday morning in Arima for breaching the Public Health Ordinance. The seven were held during a police operation led by Sgt Ali.

Police said that at around 12.30 am, they received intelligence of a ‘COVID-19 party’ in Samaroo Village. The officers made their way to the location given and upon arrival, they observed a group of persons liming near a car, which had music blaring. The group, which consisted of over 13 persons, was reminded of the stay-at-home orders in effect and was asked to disperse.

Police said the group adhered to the directives, and the officers left. However, about an hour later, police received similar intelligence, which led them back to the area. The officers had cause to speak to a group again and detained seven individuals.
