The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard are now awaiting confirmation on identity of body found.

The Coast Guard is awaiting confirmation from family members, to determine whether the body found off La Brea today is that of 57- year- old Deodath Goolcharan.

Reports say on Monday around 2pm Goolcharan of Retrench Village, San Fernando went to fish with Oam Roopchand.

Officers say Roopchand reported that a short time after they began fishing,  Goolcharan jumped off the boat at Kings Wharf, San Fernando saying he was going for a swim.

Roopchand said he subsequently attempted to find Goolcharan, however all attempts failed.

Public Relations Officer of the Trinidad & Tobago Coast Guard, Lieutenant Commander, Kirk Jean Baptiste said the search resumed today and the Coast Guard was informed by a member of the public that a body had been seen in the La Brea area.
