Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith is warning criminals again that their decision to engage in kidnappings will not end well.
He issued the warning after the rescue of the Penal family that was abducted on Saturday.
They were found by police around 11:40 am at South Oropouche Trace, Barrackpore.
Two men in their 20’s have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping.
They were reportedly detained at a house in Rambally Park, Fyzabad where police also seized a firearm.
After police stormed the Fyzabad house, the suspects allegedly told police where the family was being kept.
Commissioner Griffith said intelligence led policing will result in kidnappers being found.
According to Commissioner Griffith, the family which includes Aaron Sooknanan, his wife Paula Sooknanan, her sister and Sooknanan’s two children…5 year old Ricardo and 3 year old Isabella, were immediately taken to seek medical attention.
Aaron remains under police guard at the hospital after he reportedly suffered several broken bones as he was badly beaten while held by the kidnappers.
The rest of the family, meanwhile, remains under police guard at a secure location.
This was the seventh kidnapping in three months.
In all cases, the victims were reunited safely with their loved ones and no ransoms were paid.
The Commissioner also responded to several persons who have been critical of his attitude towards criminals in the last few months.
