Members of the public, politicians and state officials have all begun paying their respects to former President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Professor George Maxwell Richards.

The body of Former President George Maxwell Richards arrived at the International Waterfront Centre in Port- of-Spain this morning where it will lie in state till 5:45 this afternoon.

Numerous persons filed past his open casket and signed the condolences book.

Condolences books will also be at NAPA tomorrow from 10 am to 5:45 pm where Professor Richards’s body will again lie in state but will not be available on Wednesday, the day of the funeral.

Condolences books will also be available on Thursday and Friday from 10am to 6 pm will also be located at the Assembly Chamber at the Tobago House of Assembly and at all regional corporation offices

Classes at the University of T&T Campus at NAPA have been suspended tomorrow and Wednesday to accommodate activities related to the funeral.

The Ministry of National Security is advising all state and non-state agencies and all Trinidad and Tobago diplomatic missions abroad that the National Flag of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is to be flown at half-mast from today till Wednesday.

The body of the former President will lie in state today and tomorrow while the funeral will take place on Wednesday at NAPA in Port -of- Spain
