Congress of the People (COP) Chairman and political leader hopeful, Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan has said that there are currently no plans to break away from the People’s Partnership Government. However, she noted that if the philosophies of both parties are not the same the COP will walk.
The COP has come under fire over the past few years for its silence on several burning issues related to the governance of the country.
Since current leader Prakash Ramadhar took over form founder Winston Dookeran, many have said that the party is no longer relevant, with some calling it a “corpse” and a “dead party”.
Mrs. Seepersad-Bachan said that to address this the party must restore its image to become a stronger partner in government.
