Even as Jamaica has confirmed its first Coronavirus case, there is word that one case of the virus, confirmed in Canada, was tested on a traveler who came from Trinidad and Tobago.
In light of this latest revelation, Trinidad and Tobago’s Health Minister, Terrence Deyalsingh has called on the population to refrain from panicking. “It is inconclusive as to which country the person contracted the virus in as Dr Hinshaw said. No one knows. What we do know is that there was a list of countries including Trinidad and Tobago where those seven persons would have passed through, including a cruise ship,” said Minister Deyalsingh during an interview on Power102FM’s Power Breakfast Show.
Chief Medical Officer for the province of Alberta, Canada, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, named Trinidad and Tobago as one of the countries that a traveler had come from who tested positive for the virus. She said that many of these travellers passed through multiple countries before arriving in Alberta, but did not specify which of the travelers this applied to.
Based on the Ministry of Health in Trinidad and Tobago, there are no cases of the virus confirmed in this country.
