Keema Walker, 32, and his girlfriend Tinelle David, also 32, of Tumpuna Road, Arima lost their lives yesterday morning.
Walker’s daughter eight-year-old Tynique Cardinez and the couple’s two-year-old child Kalani Walker are both warded at Hospital.
Tynique is in critical condition as she is said to have suffered head injuries.
The children’s grandmother Patrice Cardinez, 62, is also warded at hospital with injuries to her head.
David’s siblings, Laticha and her twin brother Marcus, were treated and discharged.They were among seven other passengers in a silver Nissan Serena driven by 25-year-old Kess Alexander of Toucan Avenue, Tumpuna Road, Arima.
According to police reports, Alexander was driving his vehicle south along the Maloney Boulevard before turning left onto the eastbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway.
He proceeded to merge into the right lane of the highway. At the same time the 22-year-old driver of a Nissan Caravan and his passenger 19-year-old Keshaun Patrovanie, both of Santa Cruz, were proceeding east along the highway at the same time when the driver collided with Alexander’s vehicle, which flipped and ended up in a ditch on the northern side of the highway.
Patrovanie suffered a fracture to his lower left leg.
Police are investigating.
