Trinidad and Tobago has recorded its 6th COVID-19 death. The identity and specifics of the case, remain unknown at this time. Speaking during another virtual media briefing today, Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh made it abundantly clear that this pandemic is worst that the combination of Word War 1, 2 and the World Trade Centre terrorist attack, 9-11.
Commenting on the spread of the virus globally, the minister said a Global milestone has been reached, noting however that it is not a good one- that being the recorded 1 millionth COVID-19 confirmation. He emphasized the need for people to stay at home.
It was also noted that the first batch of asymptomatic patients will be moved from the Couva hospital, to another location, today. Additionally, the Minister of Health explained that no private lab, has been certified by CARPHA to conduct COVID-19 testing, locally. As such, the results obtained from any such institution, cannot be included in WHO statistics.
The government continues to appeal to the population to avoid outdoor activity of any kind, unless absolutely essential. National Security Minister Stuart Young urged businesses to ONLY have employees who are ABSOLUTELY essential to their ESSENTIAL business, physically at work. All other employees, the Minister said, should work from home.
