National Security Minister Stuart Young says a State of Emergency is still not in the frame of discussions being had by the Government. He made the assertion while speaking at the daily COVID-19 media briefing today.

Minister Young said, despite some Trinbagonians non- adherence to the Stay at Home orders, the Government has not yet seen the need to discuss the possibility of a State of Emergency.

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has noted that police officers will use moral suasion to convince people to stay at home. The police have been out in their numbers over the past few days conducting numerous roadblocks.

There have been numerous claims on social media alleging that the police are using the roadblocks as an opportunity to enforce stay at home measures. However Minister Young said roadblock are not a COVID 19 measure, but rather an everyday policing tool.
