Secretary General of the Communications Workers Union, Clyde Elder was hospitalized at the Port of Spain General hospital, after being confronted by Allied Security Services personnel at the TSTT Nelson Exchange Facility on Edward Street earlier today.
Speaking with News Power Now this afternoon, Elder said that he was escorted out of the building in a hostile manner while he was addressing some of the 51 workers who were retrenched.
Elder said he was trying to have a conversation with the contracted security when he was asked to leave. He said sometime later instructions were given to physically remove him from the premises.
Elder said he received some injuries to his lower body and was later escorted by an ambulance to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital to be treated for soft tissue damage about his body.
