In due course debate on the constitution amendment bill 2014 will take place in the House of Representatives.
Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar made the revelation in response to a questioned posed by Chaguanas West member of Parliament, Jack Warner, in the parliament this afternoon.
The Bill was passed in the Senate on August 28th.
However, the Independent Liberal Party (ILP) filed a constitutional motion challenging the government’s passing of the controversial bill.
The ILP, which lost the motion in court claimed that the Bill was a contravention of certain fundamental rights and freedoms of the people.
Mrs. Persad Bissessar said although the government has given time for the amendments to the bill to be properly assessed by the public and politicians, there have been challenges from some quarters.
