In just a few hours between Saturday night and yesterday morning, three men were murdered, one of them was found decapitated at the Santa Rosa Race Track in Arima.
The man’s head was found by a passer-by several meters from his body around 6.15 a.m. along the southern side of the race track.
Police were alerted and when they arrived they searched the area and found the body about 50 meters away from the head.
The man, of East Indian decent and in his early thirties, remains unidentified.
The other two incidents, took place in the Carapo and Barataria areas under similar circumstances.
Police reports indicate in the Carapo incident around 10.30 p.m. on Saturday, Ishmael Lewis, 41, was at his George Clarke Road home in the company of another man and a woman, when they heard male voices at the front door saying “police!”
Immediately after, two masked men entered the house, ordered the woman into one of the bedrooms before shooting Lewis several times then escaping. The other man was also left unhurt, said police.
Following this, officers said the woman ran from the house and alerted neighbors as to what had happened before the police were called in.
In the Barataria incident, police say that around 4 a.m. yesterday Dale Augustus, 28, of Seventh Avenue, Malick, was in the company of another man and a woman when three masked men entered the house and shot Augustus to death in a bedroom, leaving the woman and other man unhurt.
The shooters then escaped before officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force, San Juan and Barataria police officers and homicide detectives visited the scene.
Homicide officers are continuing investigations into all three incidents.
