Just a month and a half into the New Year and Trinidad and Tobago has already recorded 35 murders.
This is a troubling trend not just for citizens but for law enforcement officers as ell especially with carnival just three weeks away.
Deputy Police Commissioner Deodat Dulalchan, Gold Commander for the Carnival festival, has expressed concern at the country’s “troubling” murder toll.
He says that everyone needs to be more vigilant and expressed the necessity of a police and public partnership.
He made the comments as he spoke at National Carnival Commission’s (NCC) security workshop at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain yesterday.
He said that persons who go on retreat during Carnival time is also a matter of concern for law enforcement officers.
