While it is a good strategy to raise visibility of the police and army presence in different areas of the country, it is only a short term solution to a very serious problem.
This is according to Downtown Owners and Merchants Association President Gregory Aboud.
Violent criminal activity has been on the increase in the country recently.
Last Thursday citizens were shocked with the killing of two students of Success Laventille Composite School students in broad daylight.
Since then that murder along with others that have taken place since then have been engaging the attention of police authorities.
Aboud stated that that there was still fundamental issues that needed to be addressed in the fight against crime.
He also said that there needed to be changes within the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
