At a press conference yesterday Dr. Rowley stated that there was misrepresentation in the public.
He also presented a letter to the President requesting an urgent review of the terms of MPs before the new rules of Parliamentary procedure are implemented.
He defended the opposition’s decision to support the proposal for more money for Parliamentarians under the Salaries and Pension Bill and Retirement Allowances Bill.
Dr. Rowley also disputed public statements that the Salaries Review Commission was never consulted, and that the recommendations were not given sufficient consideration.
He stated that the recommendations were made based on the extensive hours of the sittings and servicing constituents.
Dr. Rowley also revealed that the opposition recommended alternatives for categorizing the pay benefits for MP’s.
