Drowned toddler laid to rest

NEWS GRAPHIC 4Tears flowed freely as the 22 month old toddler who drowned earlier this week was laid to rest yesterday.

The parents of baby Kriston Obadele Gonzales were inconsolable at the funeral service of their son.

Young Kriston was said to be home with his relatives on Sunday when, at about 1.45 p.m., he was believed to have run out of a door which was accidentally left ajar.

He then made his way to a small man-made pond in front of the home and his body was discovered a short while after.

A neighbor reportedly alerted family members by shouting out to them that he was seeing Kriston’s body floating face down in the pond.

Relatives rushed to the infant’s assistance by removing him from the water, following which they performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) which failed to revive the child.

Kriston was rushed to the district health centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
He was the youngest of his six siblings and the only boy.

Following the service, baby Kriston was laid to rest at the Radix Cemetery.
