One economist is today saying that while the financial constraints endured by gas station owners is understood, the decision by the Trinidad and Tobago Petro¬leum Dealers Association to eliminate customers’ debit and credit card payment options, poses tremendous inconvenience.
News Power Now spoke with Indira Sagewan Alli who lamented that customers may now be held to ransom.
She said another option should have been negotiating with banks for lower charges on such payments.
Meanwhile, News Power Now, in an attempt to get information from authorities at UNIPET on the way forward by that company, was told that a media statement would be issued by the end of the day. The Marketing Assistant at the company would not say whether UNIPET gas stations would be employing this saving tactic in light of the decision made by the Petroleum Dealers Association.
