Economist says PM’s Chile trip is non-beneficial

Is the Prime Minister’s visit to Chile economically worth it for this country? This is the country being asked today by one economist who admits that successive governments have participated in talks with other countries, signed memorandums of agreement, but in the end, the question of whether this country truly benefits where help is truly needed, remains.
News Power Now spoke with Indira Sagewan Ali on the PM’s trip to Chile this morning. She said she sees no benefit from such trips.

The economist said the government must make moves to diversify the economy. She lamented that until then, this country’s economic strength will continue to dwindle.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet have pledged to grow and deepen relations in the areas of trade, technical co-operation, energy and culture.

Dr. Rowley began his first of a two-day official visit to Chile yesterday.
