EDUCATION MINISTRY URGES PRINCIPALS TO ADOPT A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

Dr Tim Goopeesingh 6The Education Ministry is urging principals to adopt a zero tolerance approach towards videos posted by students on the internet involved in indecent behavior.

Education Minister, Dr, Tim Gopeesingh, in an interview on the matter said a tough stance must be taken by those in charge of schools toward inappropriate misconduct.

Recently a viral video of a mother whipping her daughter for allegedly posting sexually explicit photos of herself on Facebook has sparked wide spread debate and controversy.

In St Lucia National Youth Council President, Timothy Ferdinand , warned teenagers to beware of the ramifications of uploading sexually explicit photos and videos of themselves on Facebook and other social media websites.

Mr Ferdinand says young people need to educate themselves about the positive benefits of the internet and learn how to use it to their advantage.
