Emergency repairs to a ruptured 21” transmission main on the Audrey Jeffers Highway, Cocorite, in the vicinity of Peake’s Service Station, are still underway.
This morning there were reports that there was traffic backed up from the National Stadium to Peakes.
It took commuters heading into the West hours to get to their destination yesterday, as traffic was baked up for miles.
Water and Sewage Authority Communications Specialist Daniel Plenty revealed that the problem stemmed from the rupture of one of their transmission mains.
He disclosed that repair works have also resulted in an interruption in service to customers.
Mr. Plenty further revealed that the repair works will be completed at 4pm.
However he indicated that the road is also in need of repair, so WASA will be working in conjunction with the Ministry of Works.
He said as soon as WASA’s repair work is completed, repair work on the road will begin and should be completed by 8pm.
