Energy Minister, Franklin Khan, cites the loss of key technical personnel and retirement of senior management individuals as factors which have weakened the Ministry’s operations.

He made the comment as he responded to a question posed by the Opposition in the Senate this afternoon.

Minister Khan was asked why the services of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry have been extended beyond the compulsory retirement age as set out in the Civil Service Regulations.

In defending the move to utilize the services of Selwyn Lashley for one more year, Minister Khan admitted that succession planning is a matter that is affecting the public service but it is being addressed.
