Fast Ferry vessels adversely affecting the industry

Feedback from the tourism sector in Tobago indicates the absence of one of the inter-island fast ferry vessels is adversely affected the industry.

The T & T Express is on a mandatory one-month dry dock for servicing in the United States.

Contingency measures put in place by the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago include additional flights by national carrier Caribbean Airlines and the use of the water taxis service.

In a News Power Authority interview on the issue this afternoon, President of the Tobago Hoteliers and Tourism Association, Carol Ann Birchwood James, said the development has had serious consequences on the sector.

She explained there is need for greater team work among stake holders to ensure proper research is done to meet the needs of the people and keep the industry vibrant and competitive.
