A father and son have been jointly charged with assault and wounding with intent against their neighbor.
They were due to appear before the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court today, to answer to these charges.
66-year-old Gregory Ifill, a retiree and his 35-year-old son Fabien Ifill, both of Duranta Gardens, Sangre Grande, were arrested and charged by officers of Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department, following an incident on Thursday, December 6th.
Around 9:50am on the said date, the 50-year-old victim was at his home when he observed a man known to him, standing in his doorway pointing a shotgun at him.
The victim became fearful for his life and held on to the barrel of the gun. A struggle ensued in which both men ended up in the victim’s yard.
While there, another man approached, grabbed the shot gun and proceeded to beat the victim about the body with the gun.
An anonymous report was made to the police and resulted in officers attached to the Sangre Grande Emergency Response Patrol quelling the fracas.
Both assailants were arrested, while the victim was taken to the Sangre Grande General Hospital for treatment.
Sergeant Edwards, of the Sangre Grande CID, jointly charged both men with wounding with intent; however Gregory Ifill faces an additional charge of common assault.
