Fire destroys classrooms at Barrackpore West Secondary

Students of the Barrackpore West Secondary School had to stay away from classes today after a fire broke out at the Institution this morning.

According to the Ministry of Education an MTS Security guard noticed smoke coming from the top floor of Block E.

He contacted Princes Town fire services who arrived within twenty minutes.

They were able to bring the fire under control, however eight class room were severely affected.

An official from the school, revealed there are other areas to house the students from the affected class rooms.

The cause of the fire and the amount of damages is not known at this time.

Fire Officials have stated that an investigation will be conducted.

The Education Ministry has called on Schools Maintenance Company for an update on the electrical wiring, in all schools.

Only last month Presentation College Chaguanas suffered a major fire.
