This country has registered is fourth death related to COVID 19. This follows efforts to flatten the curve and limit further spread of the disesase by halting all non essential activity, which began on Monday.

The death was confirmed by the Ministry of Health in a media release on Tuesday night, which described the patient as an elderly woman with a pre-existing medical condition. This brings the death toll due to the virus in Trinidad and Tobago, to four. 


The release further stated that, as of Tuesday night, 583 samples have been submitted for testing to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), and of those samples, 89 have returned positive. 

One of the two most recently confirmed cases has no history of recent travel nor any known contact with a positive case. The second case is that of someone who was in contact with people, and also recorded recent travel.


The Ministry said of the total number of positive cases, 49 of these positive cases came from the group of nationals who recently returned from a cruise.
