Following reports that several of this country’s government ministries lack documentation to justify multimillion dollar expenses, former opposition Senator, Fitzgerald Hinds says the situation leaves much to be desired.
A recent Auditor General’s report on Trinidad and Tobago’s public accounts for Government’s financial year 2013 which spans October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013 highlights that there has been a lack of accountability when it comes to the hiring of contracted workers by the state and there are concerns relative to over-payments by ministries.
Mr. Hinds says the offices that were put in place to protect the population, are now in the hands of those who want to harm the citizenry.
Mr. Hinds says the population has experienced a tough ride in the past four years and he expects the ride to get even tougher.
The former government senator is calling on the people of Trinidad and Tobago to get up and call for a general election before the government’s term in office is over.
Meanwhile, Fitzgerald Hinds is today saying he has information on what he calls the rape of the economy that is taking place.
Mr. Hinds says a meeting on Thursday in the Croisee in San Juan, will reveal all.
