There is a call this morning for the immediate termination of Anand Ramlogan from the post of Attorney General of this country. Non Governmental Organisation, Fixin T&T, says the Prime Minister must remove Mr. Ramlogan from her cabinet, noting that for yet another time, allegations of impropriety have been leveled against him.
The group’s vocal stance on Mr. Ramlogan’s position comes as the Attorney General is embroiled in allegations that he had asked chairman of the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) David West to withdraw his witness statement in a defamation case that had been filed against Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley.
Fixin T&T head, Kirk Waithe, in a statement issued said, Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar’s inability or unwillingness to hold the AG accountable for the ongoing allegations of impropriety against him, is dangerous and irresponsible.
Waithe says the Prime Minister’s inaction may well be contributing to the country’s crime problem, along with the undermining of confidence in the country’s Administration of Justice.
There are now calls by the group for the initiation of criminal investigations into the most recent allegation of impropriety along with allegations by former minister, Herbert Volney that the Attorney General was effectively behind the section 34 debacle and subsequent to that, Volney’s rescinding of the allegation.
