The group FIXIN’ T&T has once again called for Attorney General Anand Ramlogan to be fired.
FIXIN’ T&T said Mr. Ramlogan latest rant and tirade of about the leak of the Police Complaints Authority’s (PCA) report further demonstrates that he is wholly unfit to hold that office as he yet again misleads the public.
The PCA’s investigation into the establishment of a new ‘Flying Squad’ unit of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service was disclosed in the Senate during a debate by Opposition Senator, Farris Al-Rawi. Mr. Al-Rawi read a section of the document which he said was dropped in his mail box.
The AG accused Mr. Al-Rawi of committing treason and cited the Section 20(3) PCA which states the Authority may on its own initiative or at the request of the Minister conduct an investigation and submit a special report to the Minister who shall cause it to be laid in Parliament.
The group’s director, Kirk Waithe, said by citing this section the AG misled the public.
FIXIN’ T&T said it views Mr. Al-Rawi’s handling of the reports and his misrepresentation of a key finding in the report under the cover of parliamentary privilege was irresponsible at best.
It added Mr. Al Rawi, “seemingly in political point scoring mode, contributed to the creation of an opportunity to make mischief that could erode public confidence in the PCA and other institutions”.
