The Meteorological Service has said that flood alerts continue in parts of eastern Trinidad. The situation exists because small pockets of rainfall continue to occur.
The MET service revealed that the latest reports from the Water Resources Agency and Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management indicate that some low-lying areas in eastern Trinidad, specifically along the Manzanilla/Mayaro Road are currently flooded.
High tides scheduled for 1.00 p.m. are expected to slow the speed of flood run-off.
More rain is predicted to occur over the six-12 hours.
Motorists are asked head towards Rio Claro using the Cunapo Road, Southern Main Road.
The Ministry said motorists from the south travelling to Plum Mitan can still do so via the Manzanilla-Mayaro Road since the road is closed beyond that point.
Motorists in the south may also use the Naparima-Mayaro Road as an alternative route.
