Following Fracas At Hoop of Life Game, Maxi Association President Calls for Stronger Security Presence

The Route Two Maxi Taxi Association tells News Power Now officials from the Hoop of Life Basketball Competition have been liaising with the maxi taxis drivers whose vehicles were damaged following chaotic scenes after match between Maloney and Laventille at St Barb’s Court last Saturday.

One woman the association said suffered head injuries when a stone was throw at one of the maxis during the incident.

Route Two Maxi Taxi Association President, Linus Phillip, in an interview on Thursday said he was informed that discussions were held between personnel from the organizers of the competition and the affected drivers relating to compensation issues.

Mr. Phillip made it clear his executive supports the objectives of the competition but called for security and safety aspects to be strengthened and sustained to avoid a re-occurrence of the situation.
