The Foreign Car Dealers Association is again seeking consultations with the government concerning matters relating to the industry.
In January this year Trade Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon announced a new policy which bars the importation of gasoline-powered vehicles more than four years old.
In the past foreign used car dealers were allowed to import vehicles that were up to six years old.
Foreign Car Dealers Association President, Visham Babwah, in a News Power Now interview this afternoon said the group is hoping to get an audience with the government on the matter.
Mr Babwah added that some dealers have been complaining that the new policy as it is putting a strain on their operations adding that others have closed their establishments.
