During a meeting held with officials of OAS Construtora, The Oilfield Workers Trade Union says that June 19th is the timeline agreed upon for foreign nationals employed on the Point Fortin Highway extension to be sent back.
On Tuesday OAS employees held protest action at the company’s Head Office at Golconda, San Fernando.
They contend that locals who can carry out jobs on the mega project should be given first preference ahead of expatriates.
In a News Power Now interview, OWTU President -General, Ancil Roget, indicated a agreement has been reached on other areas such as increased wages and performance appraisal systems.
The trade unionist also confirmed that progress was also made on the issue of improved wages for workers on the multi-million highway project.
