Former hostage during the attempted coup, Wendell Eversley, is today staging a walk of protest in order to raise awareness of the events that transpired on July 27,
1990.
He started his walk at 6:30 this morning at the Arima Dial and will conclude at the Red House where he is expected to lay a wreath Eternal Flame.
Mr. Eversley says he feels disappointed that leaders of forgotten what happened 24 years ago.
A team of Commissioners led by Queen’s Counsel Sir David Simmons, conducted a Commission of Enquiry into the 1990 attempted coup.
The commission began in November 2010 and ended September 2013.
A report of the Commission of Enquiry into the 1990 attempt coup in was laid in Parliament earlier this year in March.
However, Mr. Eversley said the government has failed to act on the recommendations coming out of the report.
Mr. Eversley is calling on citizens to remember the day by lighting a candle at 6pm today.
