Former Minister of National Security Retired Brigadier Joseph Theodore has passed away, reportedly of a massive heart attack.

This occurred on Saturday morning.

Brigadier Theodore was a Minister of National Security under former Prime Minister, Basdeo Panday’s UNC administration during 1995 to 2000.

He was the Commanding Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment from 1979-1990 and later served as the third Chief of Defence Staff during the period 1990 to 1991.

Minister of National Security, Gary Griffith, in expressing condolences to the family and friends of Brigadier Theodore, said he wanted to make Mr. Theodore his Advisor.

A media release from the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force stated that Chief of Defence Staff Major General Kenrick Maharaj, Officers and Enlisted Ranks mourned the loss of Brigadier General Joseph Theodore and extended deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
