FORMER MINISTER SAYS JAMAAT HAD INSIDE HELP

A claim was made by a former government minister, that the Jamaat
Al Muslimeen had connections in the Public Service ahead of the
July 27th 1990 attempted coup.

Agriculture Minister in the National Alliance for Reconstruction
government at the time of the insurrection, Lincoln Myers, today
testified before the Commission of Inquiry into the attack.

Mr Myers claimed the religious group had key players in various
arms of the public service which laid a platform for the gathering
of critical details ahead of the historical event.

He also recalled an experience which he had with Jamaat Leader,
Yasin Abu Bakr , who carried out a fast in Port of Spain.
