Former Prime Minister Patrick Manning is resting comfortably at the Walter Reed Military Hospital in Washington DC.

Mr. Manning was flown to Washington on Monday after spending two weeks at the San Fernando General Hospital in Trinidad following a stroke which he suffered on January 23rd

His son, Brian Manning, says his father was admitted to the hospital on Monday and should have started physiotherapy sessions yesterday.

Brian Manning added that he was not sure of how long his father would be required to stay in Washington DC, since that would be determined by his therapist, but he added that he was pleased with the hospital facilities there.

Mr. Manning, who is the member of parliament for San Fernando East, is expected to undergo physio therapy, speech and occupational therapy at the hospital.

The cost of his medical treatment is being funded by the State, at an estimated cost of $900,000.
