Gas shortage in South Trinidad continues

There are still reports of gas shortages in South Trinidad

This despite the reassurance of Energy Minister Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan who explained that supplies were being delivered to the various stations on that end of the country

Newspower has been reliably informed that there are reports of a major traffic pile up at the Rahamut Station at Cross Crossing, San Fernando, which is reportedly the only south based service station for miles with a supply of diesel.

Motorists have been forced to form long lines at the Cross Crossing Interchange into Duncan Village … as far as La Romaine.

This motorist, Ainsley Caesar, said things were getting so bad that gas stations were rationing fuel as a way of dealing with the situation

There have been lines at service stations since last week Friday as motorists engaged in panic-buying of fuel following protest by NP workers

In a release issued today NP said that it was aware of shortages in South Trinidad, and that fuel was scheduled to be delivered to Point Fortin, San Fernando, Moruga, Biche and Princes Town this afternoon.

The company admitted that there were some delays in deliveries from the Pointe-a-Pierre Bond to the Southern areas as Health and Safety audits were being completed.

it maintained that despite the delay in delivery there was no shortage of supply of fuel.
