The bizarre death of a nine year old over the weekend continues to baffle investigators.
Media reports linked the boy’s death to an obeah ritual that was allegedly carried out by a close female relative.
At yesterday’s National Children Forum Minster of Gender Youth and Child Development Clifton De Coteau called on parents to do more to protect their wards.
Mr. De Coteau revealed some startling figure on child deaths in Trinidad and Tobago.
Meanwhile, an autopsy done on nine- year-old Abayomi Jeremiah’s body revealed he died after choking on blood which was impeding air flow in and out of his lungs.
Jeremiah was found unresponsive by his mother when she went to his room.
His eyes, ears and face were covered with candle wax.
His sister was found with her hair on fire and a lit candle in her hand.
Investigations are continuing.
