Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs insists that the award of a contract for the acquisition of aerial surveillance planes to assist in crime-fighting was above board.

Gibbs insists that the aircraft form just one part of the equipment that the TT Police Service needs in its crime fighting efforts.

He was speaking at the launch of the expansion of the 21st Century Policing initiative to the Central Division at the Cunupia Police Station yesterday.

However Gibbs declined to comment on the fact that a report was forwarded to the Attorney General by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on the matter.

Gibbs said he could not comment on anything the Prime Minister has said or done.
