75 year old Roman Catholic Archbishop Edward Gilbert plans to obey the guidelines of the faith and will submit his letter of resignation to the Pope this year.

He revealed this while speaking with reporters at the Corpus Christi Mass and procession in Port of Spain today.

Thursday, May 5 marked the tenth anniversary of the installation of Archbishop Edward Gilbert as the ninth Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain.

His predecessor, Archbishop Anthony Pantin passed away March 12, 2000.

Vicar General Father Christian Pereira served as Diocesan Administrator in the interim.

Archbishop Edward dismissed rumors concerning his role in the faith and today set the record straight on what the rules of the church state regarding his duties.

The religious leader also reflected on his stint in this country describing it as an eventful one.
