Google ordered to hand over email-gate docs

by | Aug 19, 2014

anand ramlogan 5The United States district court has ruled in favor of Trinidad and Tobago’s Integrity Commission, granting the commission a subpoena which will be presented to US

online search engine, Google Inc.

The subpoena forms part of ongoing investigations into the EmailGate fiasco, in which possible governmental corruption is alleged.

Attorney General, Anand Ramlogan and Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar are the politicians at the core of the investigation, their alleged email addresses being

implicated in the email correspondence that prompted the investigation.

The subpoena now seeks information for the e-mail accounts “[email protected]”, “[email protected]t” and “[email protected]” which the Commission says is relevant to a

criminal investigation into the Emailgate fiasco.

According to a footnote in the court document, Google says the e-mail address [email protected] does not exist but the Integrity Commission said in its motion it believed

the address was incorrectly copied so it is asking for any information pertaining to [email protected] to be preserved.

The AG has denied having a gmail account and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has never confirmed if the gmail account belongs to her.
