Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs, Fitzgerald Hinds says the Government cannot be directly blamed for the murder rate in the country.
His comments come after more than a dozen murders were recorded in the last week.
Speaking in a television interview on Thursday, Minister Hinds said while the Government can develop initiatives to fight crime they cannot be held directly responsible for crime levels.
He added that furthermore, in his professional opinion, there is no link between Governments and crime rates.
Minister Hinds described assertions and links between the Government crime rates as a petty argument.
