Government contends its push for new Order to select a Police Commissioner still in tact.

The Attorney General maintains that the majority of its position surrounding of the appointment of a Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner remains intact.

Faris Al Rawi claims that this is the situation in spite of developments in the High Court relating to the case brought by the Opposition today.

The Opposition is taking issue with the amended Police Order claiming that there could possible interference.

However, government believes it is necessary to make the selection process to be  simpler, less expensive and utilize a local firm in the advertising of  positions.

Speaking at the weekly post cabinet media briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister, St Clair this afternoon, Mr. Al Rawi revealed that the judge decided to rule on two areas contained in the amended order.

The AG said the revised selection process still remains on course and there will be further deliberations on the court’s judgment.
