Government gratified by recent opinion poll results

vasantVasant Bharath 3A government minister has come out in support of a recent poll which that revealed support for Prime Minister; Kamla Persad-Bissessar has increased.

A Sunday newspaper published a poll conducted by the North American Caribbean Teachers Association (NACTA) which revealed the Prime Minister’s approval rating were close to a level not seen since her 2010 General Elections victory.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar remains ahead of Opposition Leader, Dr Keith Rowley in the popularity vote, but the margin is very close.

The poll revealed that the Government will have a tough fight on its hands at next year’s General Elections.

Minister of Trade, Industry, Investment and Communication, Vasant Bharath, said the results of the poll are gratifying to the Government.

Minister Bharath said even though the government is criticized on a daily basis the people on the ground are feeling the impact of government’s delivery.

Minister Bharath also reiterated the PM’s view that Friday’s anti-government march was not as successful as the Oil Field Workers Trade Union and the Opposition People’s National Movement had hoped.

The minister brush aside a warning the by the union that there would be more demonstrations to come in the future.
