The government is aiming to start discussions this year with its Venezuelan energy counterparts on the Loran –Manatee gas field.
On Wednesday, the price of Brent crude oil fell below $50 a barrel for the first time since May 2009.
Energy Minister, Kevin Ramnarine, questioned on the matter in the Senate this week said the government is willing and ready to begin discussions with the key players on a development plan for the Loran –Manattee gas field.

During the proceedings, Opposition Senator and PNM Public Relations Officers, Faris Al Rawi, wanted to know from Minister Ramnarine if the country’s gas supply will be strengthened should government follows through with the mega plan.
