Legal Affairs Minister, Stuart Young, maintains that the aim is not to suppress or override the work of Police Service Commission in this area.

Stephen Williams has been acting as Police Commissioner since 2012 replacing Canadian Dwayne Gibbs.

Speaking at the weekly post cabinet media briefing, Minister Young explained that the legal notice issued on December 16th seeks to shorten the six steps process to select a Commissioner of Police.
