Government maintains Caribbean Airlines CEO’s salary is sustainable

NEWS GRAPHIC 15Finance Minister Larry Howai has said the coffers of state owned Caribbean Airlines (CAL) have increased over the last few months.

Minister Howai was responding to questions about the sustainability of the company’s Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) Michael DiLollo’s salary.

Minister of Trade, Investment and Communication, Vasant Bharath maintained the salary package of Mr. DiLollo was similar to that of previous office holders.

Minister Bharath said in a competitive industry like the airline business, CAL needed to attract the best person.

The remuneration package of Mr. DiLollo was called into question by Chaguanas West MP Jack Warner during the Prime Minister question time.

PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar revealed that Mr. DiLollo receives a salary of US $28,000 with a housing allowance of US$5,000.
