Minister in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Lovell Francis, is defending government’s funding offered to a Moruga rice farmer.

Mr. Lovell explained that the farmer has been doing well in the agriculture sector, producing, packaging, selling and exporting rice.

Dr. Francis made the revelation during the Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Monday. He was at the time responding to allegations made by Opposition Member of Parliament for Oropouche West, Vidia Gayadeen Gopeesingh.

She claimed that the farmer benefited from tax payer’s money and had little to show from such financial support.

However, Dr Francis responded to the claim, insisting that this was not the situation and sought to set the record straight.

Madam Speaker, he has a very viable market for this rice.

MINISTER IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, DR. LOVELL FRANCIS.
