Gov’t promises farmers and fishermen compensation following flood losses

Farmers along Central and South Trinidad, and Tobago can breathe a sigh of relief as they will be compensated for damages by their associated Ministry.

Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Avinash Singh confirmed with News Power Now that all farmers whose crops were damaged as a result of the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Bret, will be compensated.

Minister Singh said that farmers should lodge a formal complaint with their respective counties following which an evaluation will be done so that compensation can then be processed.

Minister Singh also highlighted that fishermen would also be compensated for ‘fish kill’ as technical persons from the Ministry would be on the field.
