Gov’t to reduce budget for religious and cultural events

The state has indicated that it will continue to financially support religious and cultural events but it maintains due to economic constraints it has to cut back on the amount allocated.

This position was highlighted by Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly Minister of Community Development, Arts and Culture.

She was speaking at the weekly post cabinet media briefing held at the Diplomatic Center’s, St Ann’s this afternoon.

Earlier in the briefing it was revealed by the minister that the cabinet has authorized the disbursement of over two million dollars to fifteen organizations to facilitate Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

Minister Gadsby-Dolly also gave some details into how the funding is disbursed to the various groups.
